“The Philadelphia Ship Preservation Guild serves the community by preserving its living classrooms, Gazela, Jupiter, and Poplar. We are best at teaching maritime trade skills, putting on public events, and connecting Philly with its maritime heritage.” -philashipguild.org

December 2nd, 2023, is when my life changed forever. I first stepped onboard Gazela Primeiro (1901) as a volunteer eager to learn more about the enthralling world of the maritime industry. Soon after, I also fell in love with the Philadelphia-launched tugboat. Jupiter, 1902.

As time went on, I became the Vessel Supervisor. In addition to taking on more responsibility in restorative projects and volunteer coordination, I also worked with Jaida Owens to design a number of posters and helpful signage around the vessels.

To highlight the fun year of accomplishments, I put together the above video with different pictures and videos I took while working.

RESTORATION and PRESERVATION

Second to the rewarding work of sailing, one of my favorite things to do at the Guild was document the amazing adventures we embarked on as a team and a family.
